Update received April 5, 2021

On March 20, 2020, Governor Burgum issued Executive Order 2020-05.1, to suspend licensure requirements for certain health care and behavioral health professionals to provide expanded services during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The licensure suspension was applicable to individuals licensed and in good standing in other states, subject to identification, verification of credentials and temporary emergency requirements approved by the State Health Officer and Director of Emergency Services, in consultation with the Executive Director of the Department of Human Services.

Based upon declining numbers of active COVID cases, the availability of COVID vaccines and strong compliance with mitigating measures by North Dakota citizens, the need for the licensure suspension under this Executive Order no longer exists.  Over the last month, the State Health Officer has been in contact with individuals who worked in North Dakota during the last year under the temporary credentialling process, to provide notice that the Executive Order will be rescinded.  Further, this notice encouraged anyone continuing to work under temporary credentials to submit an application for licensure with the appropriate North Dakota licensing board.

It is anticipated that Executive Order 2020-05.1 will be rescinded within the next 10 days to two weeks.

Note:

Note: It is illegal to practice dietetics in North Dakota without a license. Before you consult or hire a registered dietitian, verify the registered dietitian's licensure or call the NDBODP office at 701-838-0218.
